Ireland: Sports bodies behind anti-racism

The campaign is being spearheaded by the Irish Football Association (IFA).

As part of the IFA’s Anti-Racism Week, the European football body UEFA is set to publish a 10-point plan against racism and sectarianism in football.

The IFA is working in partnership with the Community Relations Council, Sports Council, Council for Ethnic Minorities and Equality Commission.

An IFA spokeswoman said: “A recent independent baseline study of our Football For All community relations work, by Democratic Dialogue, highlighted that although success has been achieved at international level, we need to do more to work in partnership and support Carnegie League Clubs with regards to actively promoting positive community relations.

“With this goal in mind, we are launching UEFA’s 10-Point Plan, best practice guide, to tackle racism and sectarianism.
