Program: Foredragsholdere og innledere fra Center for African Mental
Health Promotion and Cultural Competence (CAMPCOM, Norge), Black
Mental Health (BMH, England). Tematiske verksteder.
Innhold: I samarbeid med CAMPCOM tar Afrikan History Week initiativ
til å sette et vanskelig og viktig tema på dagsordenen: Mental helse i et
flerkulturelt perspektiv. Under Indaba Fagseminar vil fagpersoner fra
Norge og England presentere problemstillinger, utfordringer og løsninger
knyttet til mental helse i afrikanske miljøer. Seminaret vil ha et sterkt
fokus på ungdom og den oppvoksende generasjon og presentere praktiske innfallsvinkler innenfor en tverrfaglig ramme. Det tematiske fokus vil inkludere spørsmål rundt psykososial kompetanse, marginalisering, kultur, forebygging,intervensjon og metodeutvikling. Seminaret vil også se på tiltak for å fremme opplysning og politisk støtte i arbeidet for et mer representativt helseapparat.
Afrikan History Week (AHW): AHW er en årlig festival som presenterer
banebrytende og inspirerende aktiviteter som gir opplysning om
afrikansk historie og kultur. Indaba Fagseminar er en integrert del av AHW som i 2010 avvikles 14.-19. september. Årets festival har ”globalisering” som tema og vil spesielt belyse Afrika’s rolle i ”den globale landsbyen”. Mer informasjon kommer: www.afrikanhistoryweek.com

Promotion and Cultural Competence (CAMPCOM, Norway), Black Mental

Content: Afrikan History Week, in collaboration with CAMPCOM, has
taken
the initiative to put a sensitive, yet important topic on the agenda:
Mental health in a multicultural perspective. During the Indaba
Seminar,
professionals from Norway and England will present problem areas,
challenges and solutions related to mental health in Afrikan
communities.
The seminar will have a strong focus on youth and the upcoming
generation
and present practical approaches within a cross-disciplinary
framework.
The thematic focus will include questions around psychosocial
competence,
marginalisation, culture, prevention, intervention and methodological
development. The seminar will also look at ways to promote awareness
and political support in the work for a more representative health
service.
Afrikan History Week (AHW): AHW is an annual festival which presents
unconventional and inspirational activities on awareness of Afrikan
history
and culture. Indaba Seminar is an integrated part of AHW, which in
2010
takes place 14-19 September 2010. The theme of this year’s festival is
“globalization” and will examine Afrika’s role in “the global village”
