‘How does conflict in the country of origin affect remittance-sending?’
Jørgen Carling and Cindy Horst will present a paper with results from “Remittances from Immigrants in Norway”, a project funded by the Research Council of Norway.
The paper, which is written together with Marta Bivand Erdal, examines how conflict in the country of origin interacts with other factors in shaping migrants’
remittance-sending practices. For this purpose, the authors compare the experiences of Somalis and Pakistanis in Norway, drawing upon survey data and
semi-structured interviews with both senders and receivers of remittances.
The seminar will take place Thursday 31 March 12-13:00 at PRIO, Hausmanns gate 7, Oslo

The migration seminars at PRIO will take place less frequently than previously, about two times per semester. Information on future seminars will be distributed as they are approaching.
